Review of Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana 705 N. 1st, St, Phoenix, AZ

Rating: 4-Stars (Excellent)

Type: Neapolitan

Pizza Ordered: Margherita

Overall: Established in 2010, in Phoeniz, AZ, Pomo produces an exceptional Neapolitan pizza, and is recognized by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana. Recently in Phoenix, I consulted the Vera Pizza Napoletana listings; managed to find this gem of a pizzeria, and discovered one of the absolutely best Neapolitan pies I've had, anywhere. Stefano Fabbri, Mark Proto and Matteo Schiavone brought true Neaplolitan to Phoenix. A visit to Pomo, in downtown Phoenix, is a must for any lover of Neapolitan pizza!

Crust: The Pomo crust is a pefect example of what a Neapolitan crust should be. The bottom of the crust displayed an excellent char that imparted a nice wood fire flavor to the overall pie. Otherwise, the crust was nicely tougher around the edges; and the inner texture transitioned from a slight soft, crispiness to a slightly moist center; just right!

Sauce: Pomo' s sauce is a addition of mild crushed tomatoes. It adds perfect tomato essence without excessive acidity or saltiness.

Cheese: Pomo's cheese was an excellent fresh mozerella that was applied traditionally and distributed well.

Other Ingredients: The basil on the Pomo margherita pizza was fresh and delicious; applied a bit lighly. This is a matter of taste, however, as basil is a strongly present herb.

Service: Exceptionally friendly and prompt.

Atmosphere: A relaxed, urban space. Not too noisy!

Utensils and Napkins: Sturdy utensils and high quality napkins.
